Rusty is going to maintain his innocence, that's for sure. In a video his owner shared, the dog wasn't willing to fess up to anything.
All the dog dad wanted was the truth. But Rusty wasn't giving anything up.
"Rusty, did you eat my slushie when I was gone?" the man asked in the footage. "Let me see your tongue."

Of course, the Golden couldn't let his dad see his tongue — he'd learn what he'd done! So he tried to turn his head away and keep his mouth firmly shut. When the man finally did get the Golden Retriever's mouth open... Well, the evidence was right there all along.
Unfortunately for the dad, the comments section was on Rusty's side. "Ahh yes the blue-tongued Golden Retriever… very rare breed. You got a good one," wrote one person. "Rusty has a medical condition that when he feels concerned his tongue turns blue. It’s strange but it’s part of what makes him Rusty," someone else teased. "I feel like that was HIS slushie and you simply forgot to buy one for yourself," argued another commenter. "That is circumstantial evidence at most. Rusty is innocent!" chimed in someone else.
How to Get Your Dog to Stop Stealing Food
Warm or cold, dry or wet — human food is often too tempting for dogs. Dogs have been known to sneak food off of countertops, the floor, or even an unsuspecting person's plate. But if you're not exactly a fan of your dog scooping up your dinner when you're not looking, here are some tips to keep them away from the goods.
It takes a little extra work, but you should keep any and all food off of table tops. You can even place a baby gate at the entrance of the kitchen to really keep your dog away from any goodies. If you know that you're going to need counter space and want to keep your dog away, place them in their crate until you're done.
You can also teach your dog to go to his or her "place" when you see them sniffing around. That means a special spot away from the food. If your dog does a good job of waiting, give them a treat for good behavior. It'll help teach your dog that they're more likely to get food via the treats, rather than sneaking some food.
It's not easy to get your dog to stop stealing. But with a little hard work, all of your slushies should remain intact.
