IU basketball recruiting: Hoosiers offer 2027 in-state top-5 forward Jaylan Mitchell
Chủ nhật, 27/10/2024 | 03:15 (GMT+7)
The 6-foot-7 Mitchell is considered a top-five player nationally in the 2027 class according to On3, Rivals and ESPN.
The Evansville, Ind. product played up a year during the travel season and averaged 13.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.2 steals.
He won a Nike EYBL E16 Championship with his Brad Beal Elite team, and he competed at the USA Basketball minicamp earlier this month.
A big, strong and physical prospect for his age, Mitchell can handle the ball and score on all three levels.
247Sports national analyst Eric Bossi recently called Mitchell “an inside-out guy who can be a mismatch problem as a small ball four-man or a big wing.”
On3 national analyst Jamie Shaw said recently “Mitchell has a strong frame, he is comfortable putting the ball on the floor and either creating or finishing a play.”
Mitchell attends F.J. Reitz High School, the same school that produced Khristian Lander a few years ago. He averaged 15.6 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.2 steals per game there as a freshman.
Mitchell’s father Jeremiah played college basketball at Southeastern Illinois College and Oakland City.
In addition to IU, so far Mitchell has reported offers from Arizona State, Illinois, Missouri, TCU, Maryland and Notre Dame. He is just the second player in the 2027 class Indiana has offered to this point.
